The consultation forum in Frankfurt opens its doors

The second consultative meeting of political organizations and civil society organizations organized by the Eritrean Forum for Dialogue was held on Saturday in Frankfurt, Germany, with the participation of eight political organizations and ten civil organizations. The delegation was led by Mohamed Ismail Hamed, member of the Central Council. Department of External Relations.
The session was opened with a meeting between the attendees and the speech of the forum president, Dr. Asfaw, in which he welcomed the audience, stressing the importance of the dialogue between the Eritreans as the way to reach a common understanding to save our people and our homeland from the criminal gang.
This paper was followed by a brief background on the Eritrean struggle and the great sacrifices made by our people to achieve liberation of Eritrean territory from the Ethiopian occupier. Despite all these sacrifices, we failed to establish a state of citizenship, rights and social justice. Ambassador Andeberhan’s paper pointed to the maturity of the objective factors of the regime’s demise and the forces of change to escalate and stand in line to assume its historic responsibility. This is why consensus is required on how to manage the transitional phase that leads us to the stage of stability and peace and the state of institutions. He also noted that the transitional phase may involve a number of scenarios.
They come in the same system with some polishing or perhaps sorting out the change that comes with a system that is now in place or else the alternative is based on the law and respect for human rights after the displacement of what is now the final and this is what we aspire to.
We must also bear in mind that what exists now has no institutions on which to base it, but rather gangs. The forces of change must work to remove the existing system in its entirety and fill the void with the democratic alternative.
After the audience’s discussions of the paper presented by the former ambassador Andeberhan, the meeting was adjourned and opened with the words of the participating political and civic organizations.
